Font Fonk Fork was a two days workshop initiated by Velvetyne Type Foundry at La Générale. We started from the Cooper Hewitt typeface to create new derivations. Just like the original font, our creations are free to use, study and modify. After a little lesson about type design rules and free/open source licenses, each participant proposed an idea to explain how he wanted to modify the font. I created a typographic system with two weights of the Cooper Hewitt family. By cutting the letters on half, it became a kind of multi-weights font. I named this system « bricoleur », french word for « handyman », because the graphic designer using the font have to fix the system himself before it works.
